In 2021 we joined the SynBioPro project with the aim to apply DMS in bioprocess monitoring. Now an original research article has been published in Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research. The selected substance was alpha-olefin 1-undece, which is an industrially relevant platform chemical. The monitoring was assessed with spiked samples and then trough genetically engineered Acinetobacter baylyi ADP1 cells.
DMS effectively captured the dynamic nature of 1-undecene production, demonstrating its potential as a nontargeted method for real-time bioprocess studies and optimizations. We are thrilled with the results, and hope to continue the research in projects to come!
