Markus Karjalainen from our team investigated transfer kinetics of smoke smoke evacuation in the Resect surgical margin detection system. The surgical evacuation system functions as a signal transfer line for the smoke signal, which resembles a heavy tailed Levy distribution. He found that the signal strength influences classification accuracy of tissues, while the sampling frequency does not.
